A strand of old African trade beads in deep oxblood/cherry red tones, strung with a handmade brass S-hook clasp

The bulk of the strand is made up of larger, irregular barrel-shaped beads with a weathered, matte/frosted surface the kind of soft patina that comes from age and handling rather than a factory finish. Diameters measured with calipers run roughly 10.6mm–12.2mm, with natural variation typical of old hand-wound glass beads.
